Solana rent recovery tools compared (2026): jup.ag/close, Sol Incinerator, SolDuster, CLI
Four tools dominate the "close empty Solana token accounts" space right now. This article compares them on the axes that actually matter — features, safety, cost, and workflow fit — so you can pick the right one for your situation.
Full disclosure: I built SolDuster, one of the tools compared below. I'll try to be honest about where the others are better and where SolDuster's edge is real vs. marketing.
The tools
| Tool | Type | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| solana-cli / spl-token | Command line | Technical users, single accounts |
| jup.ag/close | Browser (Jupiter integrated) | Existing Jupiter users, single wallet |
| sol-incinerator.com | Browser (standalone) | Token burning + cleanup combined |
| SolDuster | Browser (standalone) | Multi-wallet, sniper-bot operators |
Feature matrix

Cost
All four tools are free to use. You pay only Solana network fees (~5000 lamports = ~$0.001) per transaction sent to recover accounts.
None of them take a cut of the recovered rent by default. SolDuster's optional 5% affiliate commission is opt-in per referrer — the base tool doesn't take a fee.
Safety analysis
CLI: You sign every transaction manually. Zero attack surface beyond solana-cli itself, which is Anza's official codebase. Safest option.
jup.ag/close: Jupiter is one of the most audited protocols on Solana. Their close tool is inside their existing infrastructure. Very high trust.
sol-incinerator.com: Standalone site, less audited but has been around since 2022 with no reported incidents. Moderate trust.
SolDuster: Newest of the four. Non-custodial by architecture (transactions built client-side, signed in your wallet). No proven track record yet. Lower baseline trust than Jupiter — verify what you're signing.
For all browser tools, always verify:
1. The destination address for reclaimed rent is your wallet (not a foreign address)
2. The instructions are closeAccount calls, not transfer
3. The connected wallet is genuinely yours
Phantom shows every instruction in a readable form before you sign. Look at it.
Workflow speed
Estimated time to recover ~200 empty ATAs across 3 wallets:
| Tool | Wallets scanned | Time to complete |
|---|---|---|
| CLI (bash loop) | 3 (manual) | 30-45 min |
| jup.ag/close | 3 (one at a time) | 6-10 min |
| Sol Incinerator | 3 (one at a time) | 6-10 min |
| SolDuster | 3 (in one flow) | 2-3 min |
The multi-wallet edge matters most for sniper bot operators managing 5-20 sub-wallets. For a single-wallet user, jup.ag/close and Sol Incinerator are equally fast.
When to use which
Use the CLI if
- You're comfortable with shell + JSON manipulation
- You want zero third-party dependency
- You need to script recovery as part of a larger automation (bot cleanup, scheduled jobs)
Use jup.ag/close if
- You already use Jupiter for swaps
- You have one main wallet
- You want maximum brand trust (Jupiter's reputation)
Use Sol Incinerator if
- You have both worthless tokens to burn AND empty accounts to close
- You're already familiar with the tool
Use SolDuster if
- You manage multiple wallets (main + snipers + cold storage)
- You want to complete recovery in one browser session
- You need Token-2022 support out of the box
- You might benefit from the 5% affiliate program (either as user or referrer)
What's missing across all four
None of these tools currently handle:
- NFT rent recovery — closing an NFT ATA is a separate concept (the NFT still exists, you're just closing your access account). Some tools do this; none do it well.
- Stake account rent — closed stake accounts return their (much larger) rent deposit, but require careful handling. Explicit tooling would help.
- PDA rent from third-party programs — some memecoin programs create user-specific PDAs that hold rent. Recovering these requires knowing the program's specific close mechanism, which varies.
- Automatic re-check + close — accounts get reopened by rug-token airdrops. Nobody offers a scheduled auto-close.
There's room for follow-up tools focused on these edges. If you build one, @SoldusterHQ will happily link to it.
Recommendation
For 99% of Solana users, the fastest path is:
- Quick check on SolDuster or jup.ag/close to see your recoverable estimate
- Whichever tool showed the total closer to your intuition, use that one
- Sign, wait 5 seconds, done
For sniper bot operators or multi-wallet degens, SolDuster's batch flow saves the most friction.
For command-line users or one-off automation, the CLI is the right choice.
